November 2016 Book Haul
I got a lot of amazing books in November and early December. Between Cyber Monday and my birthday, I am practically drowning in books! None of these are November releases, but some of them are more recent than others! These books are in no particular order and I have read a grand total of two of them! I hope you enjoy!
- The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi is a contemporary about a group of high-school students. It is described as fun, romantic, and perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen (guilty).
- City of Savages by Lee Kelly is an alternate history in which World War Three is raging and New York City is a POW camp. It is told from the perspective of two sisters, one who doesn't mind the city and another's who's only wish is to leave.
- The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan is the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series. I read this series years ago (and loved it), but my copy of the Lost Hero was very damaged from my reading it so much.
- Hotel Valhalla: Guide to the Norse Worlds (also) by Rick Riordan is a companion novel to his Magnus Chase series. It details the norse gods, creatures, and realms.
- The Hammer of Thor (yet again) by Rick Riordan is the second book it the Magnus Chase series. Magnus Chase is a demigod who is rather sarcastic and is sent on another quest by the gods.
- My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows is a retelling of the life of lady Jane Grey with lots of humor and shape shifting.
- The Fever Code by James Dashner is the prequel to the Maze Runner series, but is set after the Kill Order. It shows what life was like at W.I.C.K.E.D before the maze and the role Thomas and his friends had in creating it.
- At Water's Edge by Sarah Gruen is set in 1945 when a husband drags his wife to Scotland in search of the Loch Ness Monster.
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is about a circus that randomly appears and is only open at night. Behind the circus curtain there is a magical battle and an unexpected romance taking place.
- Night Film by Marisha Pessel is mystery/ thriller in which an man investigates a young women's death. I really don't know much about it, but since it is a mystery book, I am okay with that.
- Stars Above by Marissa Meyer is a collection of short stories based on the Lunar Chronicles. The Lunar Chronicles (if you live under a rock and haven't heard of it) is a sci-fi retelling of various fairytales.
- The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson is a summer-y contemporary (perfect for winter break amiright?) about a girl named Andie who gets a job walking dogs over the summer. Morgan Matson and dogs? I'm sold!
- Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas is a high fantasy novel about an assassin. That is all i can tell you because it is the fourth book in the Throne of Glass Series and I have not read any of the other books. I bought this one because it was three dollars and I want to start that series (someday).
