2016 Reading Year in Review

  2016 Reading Year in Review
2016 was quite the year for me in books. I discovered booktube and bookstagram. I went to my first book festival and visited half-price books for the first time. I ordered books off of Book Outlet and Thrift Books. I acquired 83+ books, which is more than I have ever owned in my life time. It was the year I read The Hunger Games and Harry Potter for the first time. Overall I would say that 2016 was an incredible reading year for me. For all of the books I read this year, here is my Goodreads reading challenge.
I read 51 books in 2016. I have narrowed down my top 10 books/series for 2016. Number 1 is my absolute favorite book of 2016, number 2 is my second, and so on and so forth.

10. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
9. Graceling and Fire by Kristen Cashore
8. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
7.A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston
6.All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
5.Under The Never Sky Trilogy by Veronica Rossi
4.Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
3.Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
2.Tales from the Shadow Hunter Academy, Clockwork Princess, and Lady Midnight by Cassandra Claire
1.A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Mass

So there you have it! Those were my favorite books of 2016!
As I'm sure you noticed, Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, Kiera Cass, Rick Riordan, John Green, and  Marissa Meyer didn't make it on the list. While I love all of their books with all of my heart, I found myself thinking more of these books on this list. The books on my list made a lasting impact on me. I think of their characters on a daily basis and they have the relationships I wish I could have. They have the powers or the qualities I wish I could have. They live in worlds that I dream of going to. I read a lot of amazing literature this year and I really had a hard time narrowing it down to these books. I tried to include a wide range of books, modern classics, high fantasy, distopian, historical fiction, magical realism, folklore/ mythology, and contemporary. It is so hard to compare books that are so different!
What was your favorite book of this year? Please comment it! I would love to hear from you!
