Most Anticipated Releases for Winter 2017
There are so many exciting books set to come out in 2017. I have compiled a list of my most anticipated reads for January and February 2017. A few of these may already be out, but I am still including them because I am super excited to read them. The books are in order of when they are released. Enjoy!
- Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken was released on January 3, 2017. It is the sequel to Passenger, which is a sci-fi novel about time travel. It follows a violin prodigy who is thrust into a perilous time traveling journey. I read part of it at one point, but when I realized it was a duology I decided to wait until the next book came out. I am so excited to finish up with these amazing books!
- The Continent by Keira Drake was also published January 3, 2017. On Valea’s sixteenth birthday she receives a trip to the continent. The continent is a desolate land where two nations are at war. A tragic accident leaves her stranded on the continent and she must fight to survive and find a way home.
- Freeks by Amanda Hocking was released on January 3, 2017. It is about a girl, Mara, who is a part of a travelling circus, but all she want is a normal life. They travel to a town one day and soon her fellow performers are disappearing. They are found mauled by an invisible beast. Mara to take control of this power and unravel the truth.
- Windwitch by Susan Dennard is going to be released January 10, 2017. I know very little about this book as it is the second book in a series and I haven’t read the first one. I own the first book, Truthwitch, but I have been waithing for this book to come out before I start reading it. From what I know it is a story about two girls who live in a world where there are different types of witches. That is all I know and all I want to know, as I feel this is a book you want to go into knowing very little.
- Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth is being released January 17, 2017. It is a sci-fi book where people have have magical gifts, called currentgifts. It follows the journeys of two characters, one who’s brother rules the Shotet people and another who is captured by the Shotet people. The two must help each other survive or decide to destroy each other.
- Caraval by Stephanie Garber is set to be released January 31, 2017. It is a fantasy book about a girl who dreams of seeing Caraval. Her sister arranges for them to go see it, but her sister is kidnapped by the head of Caraval to be a part of his next stunt. It sounds whimsical and mysterious and I am looking forward to reading it.
- King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard is set to be released on February 7, 2017. It is the third and final book in the Red Queen Trilogy. I love this trilogy and I am so excited to read the third book. The story follows a girl named Mare, who is a red, yet has powers. So, the royal family, who are silvers, take her in to train her and keep her from the people. She works to lead a rebellion with an anti-Silver group. She finds herself in a dangerous world of betrayal and lies, in which she must decide who she must give her heart,
- The Valiant by Lesley Livingston is going to be published February 14, 2017. The story follows Fallon, the daughter of a Celtic king. She hopes to join her father’s war band on her seventeenth birthday, but before she can she is captured. Her captors sell her to a school for female gladiators and she must battle in and out of the arena to survive.
- America Street by Ibi Zoboi is expected to be released February 14, 2017. It is about a haitian girl whose mother is detained by U.S immigration, leaving Fabiola to navigate a new american life. An excerpt from the book’s description states, “Just as she finds her footing in this strange new world, a dangerous proposition presents itself, and Fabiola soon realizes that freedom comes at a cost. Trapped at the crossroads of an impossible choice, will she pay the price for the American dream?”
