Most Anticipated Releases for Spring 2017
There are so many exciting books coming out in 2017! I have compiled a list of my most anticipated reads for March through May 2017. The books are in order of when they are released. Enjoy!
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco is already out! It came out on March 7, but I still wanted to include it because I have had my eye on it for almost a year now! Tea is a bone witch, or a necromancer, and is greatly feared in her kingdom. Tea must leave her home and learn how to control her power. She must be the strongest she has ever been because war is brewing in her homeland. This book sounds so epic and I am super excited to get my hands on it!
Hunted by Meagan Spooner is coming out on March 14, 2017. It is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which I am super in the mood for with the new movie coming out! Yeva’s father is one of the city’s aristocrats, but she would much rather be out in the wilderness. When her father loses his fortune, her family moves out of the town. One day, her father goes missing in the woods and Yeva sets her sights on capturing his captor. She hunts the Beast deep into the woods, where she finds a cursed valley and ruined castle. It is an intrepid and fantastical story of survival and I am so pumped to read it!
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas is expected to release on May 2. Y’all don’t even know how excited I am for this book. For those who have not read it, this is the third book in A Court of Thorns and Roses. This is a loose Beauty and the Beast/ Hades and Persephone retelling in a high fantasy world. The characters, writing, plot, and world-building are absolutely perfect. I am so eager for this one to come out!
The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan is also set to come out on May 2. It is the second book in the Trials of Apollo series. Zeus has punished Apollo by sending him down to earth as a teenager. To get back to Olympus, he must restore the lost oracles, but he has no powers. He must join up with the demigods at Camp Half Blood in a hilarious and haiku-filled adventure. I read the first book last year, and while it is not my favorite Rick Riordan book, I still enjoyed it. I am looking forward to seeing what Apollo is in for in this next installment.
The Crown’s Fate by Evelyn Skye is expected to release on May 16, 2017. This is the second book in a series, after the Crown’s Game. The first book follows two sorcerers in Russia, as they battle to the death to be the Imperial Enchanter. In this book, we follow the winner through their experience after the Crown’s Game. The last book was stunning and I can’t wait to see what is in store for us in this book!
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare is being released on May 23. It is the second book in her latest series, The Dark Artifices. The first book, Lady Midnight, follows Emma Carstairs, an orphaned shadowhunter. Emma and her parabatai Julian discover a string of murders that are eerily similar to how Emma’s parents died. In an attempt to avenge her parents and Julian’s brother, Mark, the two resolve to solve the murders before they are targeted themselves. This book is so fast paced, dark, and wonderful. I am so ready for the next book after the cliff hanger that the last book left off on!
