April Wrap Up
I had an interesting reading month in April. I read lots over Spring Break, but the rest of my month was mostly booked up with tests. One thing I started this month was the Katies Abounding Books instagram (@katiesaboundingbooks). I have lots of pictures already up, so go ahead and check it out! I read a total of 5 books in April, which isn’t too bad. I am 19 books into my 50 book goal for 2017, which is about 3 books ahead of schedule! How are you doing on your reading challenge? Please comment below, I would love to hear from you!
- The first book I read was The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh. It is the second book to The Wrath and the Dawn Duology. I wrote a spoiler-free review on this blog and I would recommend checking it out if you are interested in this series (find it here). I absolutely loved this book! I gave it 5/5 stars.
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is the first book in a high fantasy series following an assassin. I loved this book! The concept of the assassin competition is fascinating and Celena is such a great leading character! This book had me gripped from the very first to the last page. There is so much mystery surrounding the world and I simply had to know what is coming next. There was also a lovely romance in this one, per usual for Sarah J. Maas. I gave this novel 5/5 stars and cannot wait to continue on with this series!
- Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas is the next book in the Throne of Glass series. It also follows Celena and her life as an assassin. There is a huge mystery that is revealed in this story and it kept me on the edge of my seat! I also gave this one 5/5 stars.
- Shadow Kissed by Richelle Mead is the third book in the Vampire Academy series. I have slowly been working my way through this series, but I have enjoyed it so far. There is always a lot of drama and adventure. One thing I love about these books is the character development, I feel like I am actually friends with them. This book was a really good “palate cleanser” after being immersed in a high fantasy world. I gave it 4/5 stars. I enjoyed it, there was a lot going on and was an exciting read!
- The last book I read this month was Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, the prequel novella bind-up for the Throne of Glass Series. I really enjoyed these, but I had trouble getting into some of them because I knew how they ended. There were some that were fun to read because they had been hinted at for so long, but some just hurt to read because I now understood her pain. I fell in love with some characters that I knew I should not have, with my knowledge of their betrayal or death. Overall, this book was fascinating and gripping, a wonderful addition to the series. I gave it 4/5 stars.
