January 2017 Wrap Up

January 2017 Wrap Up
I read 4 books in the month of January. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but I had a really crazy month. But, all the books I did read were amazing. I am hoping that all of these books are just the tip of a fabulous reading year.
  1. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Karri Maniscalco. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I loved the characters, plot, and the historical elements of this novel. I have a full review up on this blog about it. Read it here.
  2. This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. I gave this book 4.5/5 stars. Again, another wonderful book. The world that was built was amazing and complex, though I did have a bit of trouble understanding everything at the beginning. The characters were well developed and they have very complicated relationships with one another. They grew so much through the book and their perspectives changed so much from beginning to end.  The plot was very good overall. It moved at a fast enough pace to keep me really engaged. This book brought into question our values of right and wrong. I had to stop and think about why they were doing what they were doing and if the ends really did justify the means. I thought it was an amazing book overall and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
  3. And I Darken by Kirsten White. I gave this book 3/5 stars.I enjoyed it enough, but I have a lot of thoughts on it, so I’m not going to include them here. I have a full, in depth review up on this blog. Read it here.
  4. The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I loved this book! It was definitely my favorite book I read this month. The magic, characters, plot, politics, dialogue, and setting were all perfect! The magic and the game were mind-boggling and so whimsical! I loved the setting of 19th Century Russia. There was so much going on, so it made the book so much more interesting. There was always something going on. There were so many plot twists! Be prepared if you plan on reading it. The last 25% of the book is so unexpected, yet so perfect at the same time. I loved every minute of this book and would recommend it to everyone!
